This tool helps you better understand crime patterns and trends across different areas of Chicago. Areas with higher crime totals include Community Areas 8, 24, 25, 28, and 43. In general most of the crime is concentrated in the center of the city with some mild hotspots concentrated in the southern portion. Based on this data, the safest communities are those residing in the furthest Northern and Southern portions of Chicago.

By examining this map, you can identify neighborhoods with the highest and lowest graduation rates, highlighting areas where educational outcomes may need improvement. The communities with the lowest graduation rates are 13 and 33. Based on the overlap of crime and education there is a clear correlation between level of crime and success in school because the crime hotspot that exists in the southern portion of Chicago overlaps with a significant portion of the communities that have lower graduation rates. A majority of the northern communities exhibited higher graduation rates which also aligns with expectations because these communities generally had lower rates of crime. Based on these patterns it is clear that communities with lower rates of crime usually have better performing students.
